This course is designed to give students an in-depth introduction to Chemistry. The course covers topics typically included in a high school Chemistry course and prepares students to take AP Chemistry. Students are introduced to various units that include The Science of Chemistry; Matter and Energy; Atoms and Moles; Ions and ionic compounds; Covalent compounds; the Mole and chemical composition; Chemical equations and reactions; Stoichiometry; Thermodynamics; Gases; and biological chemistry. An introduction to Organic Chemistry is also included. Students develop an understanding of complex chemical concepts, problem-solving, and applications. Knowledge is enhanced through homework, practice problems, simulations, quizzes, and a comprehensive final exam. Students will be able to interact with the tutors to answer questions or concerns. Tutors will work with students who are doing the course both at Regular and Honors levels.
